Three Mid-Penn Athletic Conference teams won District IV championships this past week and will take part in the upcoming PIAA basketball tournaments.
In Class 1A boys, Sullivan County defeated top-seeded Northumberland Christian, 52-41, winning their first championship since the 2011-12 season. Also on the boys side in Class 2A, Muncy upset top seed St. John Neumann 65-54 for their first title since the 2017-18 season.
In Class 2A girls, South Williamsport won their first title since the 2008-09 season, defeating Line Mountain 49-19.
In total, seven Mid-Penn teams will be participating in the state tournament. For the boys, St. John Neumann (2A) and Northwest Area (2A) will join Sullivan County and Muncy. In the girls brackets St. John Neumann (1A) and Northwest Area (2A) will join South Williamsport.
